We’re finally here!
After months of planning and excitement National Bread Week is now just one day away. The whole baking industry will be celebrating all that is great about Irish bread – its quality, its heritage, its role in a balanced diet, and of course the passionate people who produce it.
Here’s just a taster of what is going on this week:
On Monday morning the week truly gets underway with a launch event for the industry at Bord Bia which will be attended by hosted by Irish bread fan Rachel Allen, Senator Feargal Quinn and Dr Mary McCreery
Bakers of the future will get in on the act on Wednesday when a Baking Buddies masterclass takes place at Dublin Institute of Technology
Bakeries will be holding their own events and promotions throughout the week including:
- On Tuesday Patrick McCloskey, president of the FCBA, will be revealing the largest ever soda bread
- Jack Cuthbert Breads will be holding tastings at Dunnes Stores, Blackpool on Friday 17th and Douglas Court, Cork on Saturday 18th
- O’Haras of Foxford are running a competition for Mayo Primary Schools to write a song about bread
